Tucson Water Warns Of Impostors Trying To Enter Homes

Tucson Water is warning residents to stay vigilant against people posing as employees in an attempt to enter homes.

The water provider says it has received several complaints recently of people doing just that, arriving unannounced and presenting a badge that identifies the individual as a water employee, the department said.

One resident reported that personal items were taken from their home after they allowed the person in. Incidents have been reported in the area of Sunrise and Swan in the Catalina Foothills, in addition to Speedway Boulevard and Camino Seco on the east side of Tucson, according to the department.

Residents are advised to only allow people into their homes if they have specifically scheduled an appointment in response to a customer issue related to water quality or pressure, or a high water bill.

Anyone that has someone attempt to enter their residence on behalf of the department without notice should refuse entry and call 911, the department said.

Tucson Water employees rarely need to enter a residence, as they can collect water samples from an outdoor valve.
