Tim McGraw Says Faith Hill 'Changed His Life' By Getting Him Sober

Back in 2008,Tim McGraw made the decision to get sober after he realized his alcoholic consumption had become problematic. While looking back on that decision in a recent interview with Esquire, the country music superstar recalled how unwavering support from his wife, Faith Hill, helped him through that difficult time.

"I remember a moment when I was getting out of bed and going to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8:00 in the morning and thinking, I have to wake the kids up," McGraw told the outlet. "I went straight to my wife and said, 'This is where I'm at.' I was scared. She just grabbed me and hugged me and changed my life."

"I didn't know love could feel so good," he added. "Was it an emotion? Was it a lifestyle? Was it an imaginary thing? But love is all of those things."

McGraw and Hill tied the knot in 1996 after falling in love while touring together. They share three daughters together, Gracie (24), Maggie (23), and Audrey (19.)

During the interview, McGraw also opened up about his relationship with Hill today and how the 'This Kiss' singer is the only thing that really scares him. "My wife always says, 'You're not scared of anything.' I say, 'Ehhh, one thing. I'm looking at it right now,'" McGraw said.

Another McGraw says he's learned over his two decades plus with Hill, is that sometimes it's healthy to be angry with your spouse from time to time. "Loveis being angry. Love is not talking for a day. Love is getting in each other's face. Love is accepting that I'm wrong. Love is a 360-degree thing. It's not linear," McGraw continued. "They always say you're not supposed to fight in front of your kids. Everybody fights in front of their kids. That's part of the deal."
