It was good news and bad news for “Bullet Train.” With a $30.1M opening weekend at the box office, the Brad Pitt action flick took the top spot at theaters, but it’s far below the $90M price tag and the expectations for a Pitt movie. By comparison, the only other major release this weekend was “Easter Sunday,” which brought in only $5.3M but cost just $17M to make.
“DC League of Super Pets” grabbed second place with $11.2M, giving it a domestic gross of $45.1M so far, which is again a disappointment when compared to the movie’s $90M price tag.
Probably the biggest story of the weekend at the box office was “Top Gun: Maverick,” which has now passed “Titanic” as the seventh-biggest film ever at the domestic box office with $662M in ticket sales.
Here are the top five movies in North America from the weekend:
- “Bullet Train” - $30.1M
- “DC League of Super Pets” - $11.2M
- “Nope” - $8.5M
- “Thor: Love and Thunder” - $7.6M
- “Minions: Rise of Gru” - $7.1M
